This year will mark Automata’s 5th year of existence. To celebrate this anniversary, we invite you to join us on March 21, 2009 at The Metabolic Studios at Farmlab for our first benefit. Since our inception, Automata has produced dozens of intimate puppet plays, film screenings and other definition-defying events. We have been welcomed as itinerant artists and producers at The Museum of Jurassic Technology, The Santa Monica Museum, The Velaslavasay Panorama, and HERE Arts Center In NY. We have also produced many events at our tiny foothold, The Manual Archives.

During this time there has been a proliferation of experimental puppet theater in Los Angeles. Inspired by this surge of invention and enthusiastic responses to our events, Automata is taking the leap to create a permanent physical home. The money raised at this year's benefit will go towards finding and renovating a building that can house a performance space, exhibition space and a community woodshop. From this space we will ardently support the creation of myriad manifestations of the performing object.

This is a big step for our organization and we need your support. Please join us on March 21st to celebrate and kick off this campaign.
